1999 S80 Airbag light on S80

I am looking at a 1999 S80 with a view to purchasing. The 'airbag light' on the dash comes on. Can this be cancelled out. Owner advises light came on when he disconnected the battery and has to be cancelled out by the dealer OR is there a more serious issue behind it all.

Would appreciate some advice
