LOL For what it's worth...

Funny you should bring up rust. I was just discussing this with my son who is a Subie tech at a local dealership. I own 4 Subies at present and had a fifth one until last fall. I just traded in my '98 V70 AWD with 104K miles on it for a 2006 Outback wagon 2.5i Limited.

None of my Subies have/had any body panel rust on them. I live in New England with snow and salt. Rust is a thing of the '80s and early '90s. Since the use of newer panel coatings and materials, you just don't see the rust that plagued cars of the past, including Volvos. I can think of one mid '80s vintage 240 that I looked at before I got my '95 Subie back in 2001 that was perforated right thru the fenders and floorboards. We didn't buy it, opting for the '95 Impreza with 145K miles on it that ran flawlessly until we parted ways last fall (at 195K miles).

Bottom line, I don't fret rust on recent model cars. I just keep 'em clean and spray the undercarriage and wheel wells a few times during the winter.
