Transmission Problems Again 850 1994

My wagon AT started giving real problems this time...as compared to just strange codes previously. This week, at 176+K miles, the upshift arrow started flashing again but this time there was a noticeably different feel to shifting. I took the car to the usual Indy and was told today that I'd lost 3rd gear and two sensors or modules needed to be changed (~$550 w/labor) to correct the problem. Sorry, I don't know the codes. They also stated that I might want to consider replacing the trans because others have changed these parts only to have to replace the trans shortly afterwards. I've spent some time reading the threads today and it looks like we should look for a 97 or 98 gently-used unit.

By the way, I did flush the fluid out about 6 months ago using intructions previously provided. We're about 6K miles on the new fluid.

Thanks for any suggestions and/or pointing to me to a AT source. And, as always, I'm impressed with the guidance you folks readily share with others.

Mitch
