K&N Air Filters 850

OK. I have been considering a K&N "box type" air filter for my 1995 850 T-5R sedan, mainly for a little increase in MPG (the few HP increase as claimed I could probably care less about). I live in a hilly area of WV, and the 850 is doing as expected on gas (I can't complain), but who wouldn't mind a little better. So, I'm talking to my dad about a K&N air filter for a little better MPG, and he brings up a topic of discussion he heard/read about the other day about the oils in the K&N air filters having an effect of "goo-ing"/oiling up the mass air flow sensor, which is essentially 8 or so inches away (by my mental calculation). My question is, what do you all think about this possible problem, and, does anyone have any experience with these that would mind posting their actual MPG/HP inceases in the 850/70 line and if any problems have been experienced with the oils? Obviously, if you don't OVER oil it, it would seem that you wouldn't have any problems, but I guess there's still that possibility...?

Regards,
Stephen
