98 V70 awd FUEL pump REMOVAL V70-XC70 1998

Has anyone removed a fuel pump on an early V70 awd? Does it really require removal of the rear suspension in order to get the fuel tank (think saddle tank, on either side of the drive shaft/exhaust pipe). It has been a couple of years since posting one of my questions on the V70 awd or an opinion about the thing. Not much good to report, door locks don't work right, cruise control died 50k miles ago, haven't had the rear drive shaft on since I replaced the bearing at the front of the viscous coupler housing ($36, bearing is a glued in fit). I have googled the heck out of this and have the Haynes manual for the 850, but nothing is as it is on this car. Thanks
