Best solution for slow AC leak sealer? 850

My 850 has a slow AC leak, and I am looking for comments about leak sealers. I think the leak is in the evaporator, which I am loathe to have replaced. I like the car, but as it's only worth at most $4K, sinking $1K into a repair that doesn't affect the operation of the car mechanically doesn't make sense to me. I know some will say repair it already, but I can understand spending that kind of money on an engine or transmission (which have been fine, I might add), I am reluctant to spend that on a creature comfort item, until I have exhausted all other options. If it were a simpler job, I would DIY it. But until I have to put in a can of r134a as often as fuel, I'd like to explore alternatives.

Thanks for any input!
