850 Interior Fan 850 1994

Does your fan also squeal/make birdy noises from time to time, especially during cold weather? If so, then the bushings in the fan motor are shot and the only remedy is to change the fan motor. I had to do so a couple of weeks ago, bought a complete new fan unit from OEM dealer, pretty expensive but the whole operation took me less than 5 minutes. My fan squealed for about a year, but mainly when it was cold outside. It finally stopped a few times, I tried to put oil and grease into the bearings but this did not last long. Known to be a weak point on most Volvos. Be aware that you can find the motor as separate spare part from many sources, but it is a real PITA to transfer the fan wheel to the new motor without damaging it.
