SRS intermittent light V70-XC70 2000

Although I'm frequently on the Opinions and 740 forum, as my V70 is a Tdi (I'm a Brit) I don't normally post here. However, this problem will be common to all V70's so I thought I'd ask you guys as well as the UK forum, as there may be limited experience of this proble, so here goes. I had a recurring SRS light keep coming on on my classic shape 2000 V70 which was reset a couple of times by the dealer (I don't have a code reader, the Tdi needs VCT tool). They told me it was a 412 code (each time) which indicates intermittent NSF SIPS airbag and said it would need replacing. This I agreed to, so they changed the bag in August. The SRS light came on AGAIN last week so, today, I've just had it checked again and, guess what, it's a 412 code AGAIN. Dealer insists that the airbag WAS faulty (but how they knew I can't imagine because the fault code always cleared indicating an intermittent fault) and are now suggesting the car needs to be left for a day to "check the SRS system". So, how specific is a code and, if it is not specific, how can they change a part that may not be the fault. Do I have a case for claiming money back? (I've just paid them to clear the same code, suppose I should have refused payment). I realise US litigation / consumer rights are different but I'd value any opinions please. This car is beginning to get expensive. Regards.
