Loose yoke on steering column. Steering wheel lock?

CarVolvo,

The whole steering wheel is not loose. The tilt/telescoping mechanism is secure as well.

The movement (L&R) is only the yoke or bracket that surrounds the column and to which the turn signal, wiper, and ignition switch attach.

I think there was a campaign to replace some defective steering wheel locks on the early '98's.

I don't know if this is a safety issue where the locking pin could engage while the car is being driven. Or, if it is just an annoyance to have the plastic cowl move and vibrate when the turn signal or wiper switches are used.

Thanks for your response.

Bryan
