850 Starter replacement 850 1995

Tell you volvo guy that another volvo dealer gave you the right advice and you will be giving them your money from now on because they are a bunch of liers! I've replaced my starter and never touched the intake... Take the the fan assy out. and when you get the bolts out of the fan slip a piece of cardboard between the fan and the radiator to assure no damage to the radiator. The starter is not that hard to do... can't remember exactly, but it didn't seem to me the starter was that big a deal. Good luck
