Wiring Harness to Ignition Modules V70-XC70 2001

I recently purchased this 2001 XC, built in 9/00.
I Replaced my top engine mount last night. In the process, you have to remove the cover for the ignition modules/spark plugs. When I opened this cover, I found that nearly all of the black plastic tubing covering the wiring harness wires in there has disintegrated. The wires all look fine. Anybody seen this before? - is this something to worry about?
