E-code lenses only ? - will have to do a test V70-XC70 1998

The controversy about the headlights continues. It is a pity that the USA version of the V70 and S70 came with such compromised lights that owners are forced to look for alternatives. I think the only way to decide if the lens assembly mounted on the USA base unit will work to your satisfaction is to try it. If you have one lens, install it and do a test to compare with the USA stock unit. As for comparing with a full European Hella unit, that will be difficult if you don't have a friend nearby with the Hellas installed in his car.

I opted to buy the full European assemblies. I could not find a vendor in the USA anywhere, despite many calls and emails, so a friend brought the units back from Sweden when he returned from vacation. Remarkable improvement. I also installed the Phillips VisionPlus bulbs to get a bit more power. You can order them from Autolamps Online (http://www.autolamps-online.com/home.htm). The European Hella units also have an extra bulb, the city light, which our cars are already wired to use.

If you are in western Mississippi, come to see my lamps. I'll even provide coffee and biscotti.
