horrible windshield wipers 850 1995

I am trying to envision this "noise" and cant. Yes, 850s are notorious for having the drivers wiper not touch the windshield (arm needs to be bent and tightened), but not for making noise.
If the blades are making noise, try new bosch blades. Or clean the blades with soap and water, rubbing the rubber part until there are no more black marks on the cloth (get rid of the oxidation).
If the motor is making noise, you will have to take off the panel that covers it in the engine bay and take a look.
Don't buy a new windshield! And thank your Mom for a great car, don't mention the noise. And don't run the wipers without water on the window, it will scratch it up.
