XC90 or X5? XC90

I have owned three Volvos since 1982 and am currently looking for an SUV. I am considering a used XC90 (leaning toward T6) or BMW X5. I like the 3rd seating of XC90, but any reasons to steer clear of it? I'm looking at BMW simply because I've owned one and like how stout they are built, and have been a bit suspicious of newer Volvos since the Ford acquisition (perhaps unfounded).
