A-C mechanic needs help 850

The orifice tube( might have a different name in Australia) is a small valve that allows the conversion of gas freon into liquid freon just before it gets to the evaporator. It fits inside one of the metal hoses just at the coupling.

Costs about $3 and usually is clogged up from debris from the system and operating poorly. It is a must for the orifice tube to be replaced at the same time you place a new receiver.

Any AC shop should know about orifice tubes, since all car makes with AC have one, is not just a volvo feature.
