alternator issue? or something else. 850 1994

On my 95, it is a red and white wire. It connects to the male at the plastic round bump on the alternator, where the part number lable is. Easy to see.
I wonder why it was off in the first place? The connection should be tight enough to never fall off. Mine also has a plastic surround on the female end of the wire to keep water off. There are no other wires in the area and only 2 wires plug into the alternator, the fat red one and the thin one.

Buy yourself a trickle charger and charge the battery for at least 24 hours.
