Brakelight failure warning light S40-V40

You should have a warning light for this. My owner's manual (2002 model year) on page 21 shows the brakelight failure warning light as just below the clock and located between the cruise control light and high beams on light.

When you turn the ignition key to the first position before starting the engine, make sure all your indicator lights are working. Burnt out or loose bulb? BTW: After a few seconds all but two of the bulbs will go out with the key in that position.

If your owner's manual is lost you can download it at the volvocars web site under the owner's section.
