Brakelight failure warning light S40-V40

That is correct, from the circuit diagram it would appear to be the case (99% sure). However, when all is OK the light stays on until the first time you step on the brakes as that is the only time it can actually test the brake lamps (note this is how it worked on the 1996 - 1999 models that were not available in the US, only real difference being they were not OBDII compliant). All other lights go out after a few seconds (some longer).
