850 sounds like a single prop airplane

about 14 days ago i bit the bullet and had the volvo dealer put on new brake pads all around and new rear rotors. they also fixed the turbo oil line leak, and replaced one of the motor mounts. the car started to make strenge sounds almost at once. first it sounded like water spraying against the car, then a day later it changed to a high pitched whine above 35 mph. i took it back to the dealer and they said it could be part of the air intake system. then a couple of days later the whine went away and was replaced by a steady loud low pitched noise not unlike the sound of a single engined prop plane. did the dealer do something BAD? or is the 850 tormenting me with a new proplem?
any ideas for the source of the new noise?
