Front end clunk - worse when it's cold V70-XC70 1999

Happens over bumps and I can't detect any other symptoms like handling changes or tire wear.

Seems to be coming from drivers side and sounds similar to a shock or strut mount problem - except all were replaced last year as well as the sway bar links.

Jacked that side up and found no wheel play.

Noticeably clunkier when cold, but after driving 20 mi. or so the sound softens up a bit and sounds duller and less frequent.

I really hate to drop it off at the mechanic (for what always ends up a week) during the season I need it most, so I'm wondering if it could be anything serious enough to worry about, or if I can ignore it 'til spring.
