Cruise control issue V70-XC70 2002

I have never understood drivers who use cruise control in city or high traffic areas. Your car is shifting to 3rd to maintain control at a low rpm, perfectly normal and better for the engine. Lumbering along at 1500 rpm may be good for gas milage, but it is bad for oil circulation. Engaging the cruise in traffic also causes more wear on the braking system, you will start braking later instead of using the engine as a natural brake. And engaging CC to "resume" your speed above 40Km/h is counter productive.
I only use CC when I am in the countryside, little to no traffic, clear dry roads, and at least 30 minutes of uninterrupted speed. In other words, Interstates or highways with long straight stretches and no need to slow down. I don't think I ever have engaged CC below 60mph (100Km/h).
