Stranger in Paradise - ¿Battery Replacement? 850 1996

The battery in Susan's slick 850 seems to have died - won't even click!
I have always viewed battery replacement on the oldtimers as fairly
straightforward: Observe polarity, make it clean and make it tight,
insure the charging system is working, etc etc.
How about on a 96 850? Are there special precautions? All the oldtimers
used a #24 battery - what does the 850 want? Any weird resets required after
the change due to electrical disconnect?
Many thanks,
