you don't, it does. the auto tranny locks up at around 50ish mph. no switches or user intervention. turn your radio off and you can just almost feel it at 50-65 mph if you try real hard. It is more like a direct drive, no torque convertor slippage. On a manual tranny when you let your clutch out that is a direct drive, locked up.
