Ignition key spins- Follow up (att:Klaus) V70-XC70 2000

Klaus,
I called my local dealer (Cherry Hill, NJ)to check part availabilty (electric portion of ignition switch)eager to make the repair. I was told by the service manager that I need the ignition lock cylinder and it must be special ordered through Volvo-Sweden. When asked how much the repair would cost, I was told about $900. Is this accurate or is it a way for Volvo to get me to bring the car to them?
Again, the key spun around on two separate occasions over the weekend, but work fine all day today for my wife. Troubeling problem as my wife is anxious to trade the car in for a Volvo SUV and I'm trying to hold out.
Your expertise is greatly appreciated. Regards, John.
