Misfiring..engine light V70-XC70 2000

I appreciated Klaus' comments when my 2000 V70 R AWD recently began a faint "misfire" action when
accelerating gently. When attempting quicker acceleration, the misfire becomes very "rapid-fire" and power is away down, until it suddenly regains its composure and rockets ahead! It usually goes away when the engine is fully warmed up. Mechanic diagnosed it as a bad coil on plug No 3. Replaced it but the problem remains. Yesterday on pulling into parking lot after 216,000 KM service, ( and running well ) the engine light winked on!! I'm stumped! What is the AMM plug anyway?
