Ignition and Gearshift S70 1998

My Volvo has developed a problem that when I put the gearshift into park, sometimes it doesn't "lock" and therefore I can't get the key out of the ignition switch. When this happens, I have to play with the gearshift lever until it finally "locks" and the gearshift button finally extends fully.

Anybody have an idea as to what the problem might be?
