V50 AWD versus V70R AWD 850 1995

I had to smile about the comment regarding the lack of foot space in the S40/V50s. Yes, I had that problem (and the S60/V70 is a little short on toe room too, although that can be fixed by removing a superfluous trim panel), but the biggest shortcoming in the S40/V50 is the Japanese-size seats. I could not get comfortable. The S60 seat is perfect, just like the 740/940 seats of the past.

I really wanted to like the V50, but it's completely off my list, and I didn't even bother to sit in the new C30. If it's any comfort to a company like Volvo, the A4 is even worse for a broad-shouldered person, and the cost of the A6 or an E-Class or 5-series will keep me in Volvos for a long time.
