Electrical failure Thoughts? 850 1995

I had the same problem with my 855 last year. I also was about 40 miles from home. The battery light came on after I started the car at work's parking lot. All the lights came ON during the last 10 miles especially TRACS and ABS. Gradually, speedometer not working, tachometer not working. Only the fuel gauage and temperature gauage were barely working, UP arrow came on, tranny was jerking. At the last 2 miles, emergency light was not working neither. I had to pull over and waited for a while to restart the car to slowly drive home .

Alternator was dead so as the battery (drained all the way for 40 miles). I bought both alternator and battery from dealer and replaced them myself. Not too difficult for 850 wagon. I don't know how difficult to replace it in C70.
