That plastic disc on fuel injector ends: is it necessary? S70 1998

The small plastic disc on the end of my fuel injectors has broken on a couple. Had the injectors cleaned by RC Engineering and they did not replace them. Am assuming they are not really necessary, but would appreciate input from some knowledgeable soul.

BTW, the flow after RC's work is nearly equal so it sounds as if it will be worth it. Just have to finish some more reassembly work to try it out. Significant change from pre cleaning.
