Wiring problems are discouraging V70-XC70 1998

It is odd about the wiring. My 1981 BMW 320i has almost perfect wiring except for one connector in the engine compartment, which had cracked. As for Volvos, I have read complaints here about the headlight connectors on the S70/V70 cars getting brittle and disintegrating. Mine have not done it...yet. Surely the engineers could have specified higher heat-resistant materials for a trivial cost per car, especially with so many of their products going to USA, where summer is hot in a significant part of continent.
