Wiring problems are discouraging V70-XC70 1998

Maybe this is more due to the environment or particular incidents than the car - for instance idling lots in hot environments would build lots of heat under hood, which would not occur often in a car mostly highway driven.

I've had wiring issues with cars which were driven lots in cold weather and always parked outside - salt damage in particular. As it happens Acura and Toyota were bad - but this is probably coincidence rather than a reflection on these mfrs.

On another car someone cut the wrapping off a harness for testing or repairs - now I have a spot there that collects water and will be rewrapped during next major routine care/cleaning.

A poor resistive connection will also build lots of heat and may destroy itself (in my case a fuse block on an Acura).
