I need detailed instructions on how to do a complete brake job (with photos too) 850 1996

Hello All,

I've owned two 850 wagons for over 10 years and have never done a brake job. I was afraid that if I screwed up, I could get killed, or worse, injure my family. I realize though, if you don't try things, you don't learn. Of course, I want to exercise as much caution as possible. But others have done this servicing on this site, and I'm hoping I can do a competent and safe job too.

Can anyone suggest to me:

1) Where I can obtain the most detailed instructions (i.e. Brake Jobs for Dummies) for replacing the front and rear pads/rotors for my 850s. The more pictures the better.

2) Should I only buy Volvo parts from a dealer, or can I safely purchase parts from FCP in Groton, CT?

3) With regard to changing the brake fluid, should I purchase the Motive Brake Bleeder? I won't have anybody present to step on the brake pedal as I go to bleed the brakes.

Thanks to all who respond.

Hugh
