Tranny flush question... 850

I'm about to flush the transmission on my 850 and install an in-line Magnefine filter to the return line. My mechanic is concerned that the filter may impede the flow rate within the system. He suggests installing the filter, then driving it for a few miles and removing the filter. Then flush and fill the system with fresh oil, but take the filter out.

Anyone ever checked flow rates with this filter installed versus without it? Anyone been using these filters in their return lines for a long time and had any difficulties?

Thanks very much.
