whining noise S70 1998

Get your car up to speed with the radio off. Shift to N. If the noise remains, suspect a bad wheel bearing.

If the noise went away, it could be one of the spinning items on the S belt or the timing belt.

If you can make it happen with the hood up, then find a long piece of wood. One end next to your ear and the otherend on each of the moving parts. Be caeful of the belt.
