Your radio has OK quality, or at leat it should. First, check all of the speakers to make sure they work. My 850 lost the magnets, the glue dried out and the magnet fell down - same with the rear speakers. I glued them in with real glue (thin coat) and the sound is much better now.
Make sure your bass and trebel are both at max. Before you pull the radio unit out, make sure you have the 4 digit code handy, otherwise you will need to call the dealer parts dept to find out what it is.
Read the 20 pages or so of the owner's manual dedicated to the radio, and push and hold the CD button to turn ASC on. ASC is the volume control regulated to vehicle speed, more volume as speed increases.
