Poor FM reception S80 1999

I recently purchased a 2001 S80 and the radio reception on it is horrible, both FM and AM. I had anothre serice problem (voltage regulator) that forced me to take it to the dealer for service, so while going through the initial interview, I asked them to check to see if there was a problem with the radio antenna.

After they checked, I was told that everything was as it should be, but they could add a clip to the antenna that would help a little. The service rep went on to add that these cars have crappy radio reception and the $50 clip wouldn't make much difference. I passed on the clip, but was charded $20 for the diagnosis.

I plan to take my car to a car audio shop and see what can be done to boost the reception. I'll follow with a post here with what I find.
