Air Pump replacement 850 1996

My air pump sounds like a turbine jet engine and is running whenever it feels like but I am not getting any codes so the dealer said just let it go until it fails. Well to me it is failed whether it has set a code or not so I want to replace it. Besides it's embarrassign when everyone in the parking lot looks over at me thinking a jet is flying low in the lot. I found instructions on Volvospeed/Bay13 and I am going to attempt this myself. My question is this. Since my pump fails every 12-18 months anyways and the dealer has already replaced all the other parts twice in the last 4 years, i'm thinking of just doing the pump. What the heck, it's gonna fail again in 12 months and I need to save the money for a zillion other things that need work on this car (like the leaky rear seal and the A/C and the smelly exhaust. Hey, that's not too bad after 295k !!!!
