Air Pump replacement 850 1996

No sense in having the dealer rip you off again as it's not much of a job. Batt has to come out as I recall and if they used those special crimp clamps just cut them with nippers and use regular hose clamps if you don't have the special tool to apply them. I found an almost new pump on ebay for ~ $125. which was a steal. I've seen others on there from time to time much less than a new one. I think even FCPGroton gets near $300. for a new one. Good luck!

PS Before you write it off completely, you may want to try unplugging the pump from the relay (blue wire I think) and apply 12v to it via a jumper wire. That will make it run w/o the engine noise and maybe you can find some other cause for all the noise. Just seems odd the dang thing has failed again so soon.
