I don't know where the loose hose shown on the picture goes. Please help.

Could this be related to a heater core problem? My wife told me the low coolant light came on, so yesterday I checked the coolant level and it was min so I topped it off, and today it was at min again....guess what....I all the coolant was under the floormats. I removed the kick pannels as indicated by MadeinJapan in a post and I found this ...see picture
