Mild studdering at highway speeds 850 1995

About 9 months ago I started to experience a mild "studdering" when driving at highway speeds. It has gotten slightly worse in the time since, but I am growing concerned. Symptoms are as follows:

Speed 60-65MPH, only when this speed is maintained, but not if accelerating up through to higher speeds or if going up a hill while maintaining this speed. Almost if like the slight load of the hill or the acceleration makes a difference. This speed corresponds to 2000-2300RPM in 4th speed. If I down shift (automatic transmission) to 3rd speed the RPM's are ~2900-3100 and no studdering is observed. I get no studdering at the 2000-2300RPM range at lower speeds (which would corresponds to lower gear numbers).

I replaced the plugs/wires/rotor/distributor/Mass Air Flow Sensor/Front O2 sensor all or which have had no impact on the studdering.

I am beginning to think that it is the transission and that at steady state it is having a problem choosing between 3rd and 4th speed.

Checked tranny fuid and it is the proper color and level.

Any thoughts?
