no power to radio 850 1994

hello to all!
here's what happened:
my battery died. it seemed lucky at the time that the terminals were conveniently designated by red and green felt rings because the symbols were hard to see. unfortunately, the sparks flew when trying to attach the jumper cables. it seems that the felt rings were not properly placed. so, finally got the battery jumped. what's more, the radio was left in the ON position.

the problem:
the radio won't power on, but everything else is working fine

what i've tried:
-entering the code even though the lcd is blank
-changing the fuse

any ideas how to get my radio up and running or is it fried?

thanks for your suggestions!
