third row seat install--how to keep the seatback up?? V70-XC70

I recently bought a used third row seat for my Volvo. The installation went relatively easy. The only problem now is keeping the seatback up when opened up. There is a notched "rod" that comes out of the seat back of the third row seat and "stabs" into the seat back of the middle row of the car. It does not catch on anything--should it? The used kit I bought on Ebay did not include any parts that would go into the middle row seat. The parts guy at the local dealership could not identify a single part that could be ordered for this either.

Can anyone help me out? Does my carseat need Viagra to "keep it up"?
