1999 V70 RPM drops when coming to a stop V70-XC70 1999

I have 1999 v70 with approx 108k miles. Recently i noticed that when coming to a stop the rpm will drop to around 500 for a couple of seconds and then bounce back up to normal idling speed. At times it feels like th engine is about to stall out. Other than tha the car seems to drive normally. Any ideas.
