New to V70.....maintenance question V70-XC70 2004

Nice car. IPD sells a filter remover, the old style mann filters can no longer be used. The white block engines use an aluminum crush washer.
Check the back of the owner's manual for # quarts. If it is not there, start with 5 quarts syn and keep adding until full. Not all dipsticks are created equal :)
There are no more paper manuals. Check on Ebay for a pirated VADIS that covers 05 cars. The CD covers all models up to the year of publication. You will either be visiting an autoparts store to get codes read, or buy your own code reader - but, only generic codes will be presented. Dealer for all else.
Dealers are charging 1/2 to 1 hour to read codes and/or download software. What a rip.

Please answer your responses. We need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)
