Klaus,
Thanks for the advice. I looked on the 700/900 webpages, but I'm a little confused. Don't I need to buy a device to pull codes? I assume, judging by everyone's casual mention of pulling codes, that the answer is 'no,' but I'm not sure how to go about doing it.

Also, I commute approximately 30 miles a day. Should I treat this fuel econ issue as potentially catastrophic, and start using public transport (huge hassle) until I can get the car checked out? Aside from the fuel econ issue, the car seems to run fine.
