Shudder and thumps S70 2000

I just started experiencing this and don't have my arms around this problem yet. The car is a 2000 S70 GLT. It has recently developed a shudder when accelerating hard. When I let up off the gas the shudder disappears. This shudder does not happen all the time. Just today I have noticed an occasional thump at idle as well. When sitting at a traffic light it feels just like a passenger stomped on the floor.

That's all I have so far. Any ideas are welcome. I have no check engine light or other obvious indicators.
