Service Interval - S60T5 vs V70T5 2001

I've had my S60T5 for something over a year and a half and this summer got a
V70T5. Both of them are 2001 models. The S60 has about 75,000 miles on it and
the V70 has 114,000 on it. I am very happy with both of them. Looking at the
service records, it seems that the manual calls for the S60T5 should have its
periodic service at 7500 mile intervals, while the V70 manual calls for service
at 10,000 mile intervals. The engines and much of the rest of the two cars
seems to be very similar if not identical. Why the difference in the service
interval, and especially why should the larger and heavier car have a longer
interval?
