V70 clutch issue V70-XC70

Just got a call from my teenager son who was driving my 1998 V70 n/a (5 speed). He stopped the car and now it won't move. The motor runs ok but revs without causing the car to move even when it is in gear. Everything seemed fine when I last drove it yesterday. Could it be a matter of just bleeding the clutch or does it sound like it needs to be replaced? I had thought that clutches show symptoms of wear before going out but this one was fine until today. There are 135,000 miles on the car, don't know if the clutch has been replaced before. Thanks to all!
