Hey All,
Driving home from work today I experienced something new. During acceleration my '99 C70 HPT bucked very hard and I experienced a very short loss of power. Afterwards, the car behaved normally for a short period of time.
Once I got onto the Interstate, I realized something was very wrong. The car acted in higher gears almost like it had lost overdrive, and upon releasing the accelerator, the car would drop 300-500 RPM instantly. I also heard much more "turbo noise" or rather increased sound of air escaping, instead of the typical turbo whine it was more of a "whoosh"
I limped the car the rest of the way home, and once I got off the interstate, the car would buck, like it wasn't receiving enough gas/air at low RPMs in low gear. About twenty minutes after the initial buck under acceleration, the CEL chip light illuminated.
Once I got home where I could safely take a look at what was going on, I found that the large hose that runs from the rear of the radiator/intercooler over the top of the engine and to the rear of the engine looked like it had blown apart at the joint near the battery on the right side of the motor. I will post pictures if necessary.
Anyways, I realize that this hose now needs replacement, but what could cause enough pressure to build up to blow it apart like that? PCV Blockage? Old Hose in a high pressure turbo?
Any help is extremely appreciated.
