I have a question about the mechanical (non-electrical) type trigger device used on the seat mounted side airbag system. Is it triggered by inertia, or does it require pressure contact from the door panel during intrusion from a side impact in order to fire? Does anybody here have a green manual that covers theory and operation of this early SIPS system.

The system I am asking about was on the 95+ 850 and 96-98 960,V/S90.
